Dr. Deepak Srivastava, Co-Founder, and CEO of Taechyon Robotics and an award-winning ex-NASA technologist based in the United States participate in Risk Roundup to discuss Conversational AI.

Conversational AI

As traditional computers give way to tablets, smartphones, the internet of things, and more, the need for symmetric communication between humans and different forms of computers is becoming essential. We are at a development stage where different forms of computers and machines are not just receivers of human instructions but collaborators, that are able to collaborate by connecting a full range of natural modes– including language, gesture, and facial or other expressions that are hands-free and non-visual. As a result, Conversational AI is becoming more important than ever.

As we see, communication between man and machine is evolving. There are strong indicators that in the coming years we will be able to move past a Qwerty and touchscreen ecosystem and be able to talk to our computers, machines, and electronic devices to communicate with them. This is largely due to advances in Conversational AI and will undoubtedly have huge implications in the way we do things in the coming years.

Advancing the ability of computers to interact with us in a more natural way is critical for the AI-human relationship to reach its fullest potential and the emerging conversational AI interfaces could completely redefine how individuals and entities across nations: its governments, industries, organizations, and academia operate.

There is a hope that as Artificial Intelligence is fed more data and acquires more and more knowledge from connected devices, it will not only answer questions but will also actually be able to have a conversation—just like humans. Time is now to understand Conversational AI.
